On iPhone, Apple added automatic positioning from nearby Wi-Fi networks and cellular towers, a hybrid map view, Web Clips, reorderable icons and multiple Home screens, group SMS, and support for transferred iTunes Movie Rentals with chapter, language, and subtitle controls.[1]
For iPod touch, Apple sold an upgrade that also added Mail, Maps, Stocks, Weather, and Notes; newly manufactured units included it. An archived Apple security bulletin documents validation for crafted URLs, stronger Passcode Lock state checks on iPhone, and stricter cross-frame navigation in Safari. Apple’s security index and both announcements date the release to January 15, 2008.[2][3][4]
