Public release

Apple made tvOS 17 available on September 18, 2023 as a free update for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD. FaceTime required Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), and other features carried their own hardware, subscription, language, or regional limits.[1]

What changed

The launch release connected iPhone or iPad cameras to television calls, reorganized system controls, helped locate newer Siri Remotes, and expanded music, photo, Siri, and dialogue workflows. Webex and Zoom apps were announced for later in the year and are not counted as 17.0 changes.[2][3]
